In conflict what is stirred
In conflict what is stirred
is fear that we might choose the wrong
and, living, loving, turn to bitterness
through disbelief. The song
is hollow in the whisper heard
by broken shadows, which, fractured, long
for right to cleanse and heal
through scars that ache and scream
conviction.
But which is worse?
The sacrifice which lets us know
a sacrifice was made?
(And yet we leave…)
Or,
to live within the world
the sacrifice would save
and, bitter, grieve?
Beautifully written.
This spoke to me.
Such a beautiful poem . :) Thankx for sharing :)
I like the way you are thinking
Nice & clear.
Not sure what you were thinking when you wrote this, but the essence of your poem resonates with my current situation. To live with ‘the sacrifice’ and be reminded that it was made, or to live without it and grieve in bitterness. At the moment I am thinking of choosing the latter as grieving lessens with time.
…to live within the world the sacrifice would save. That is worse. I’d rather take the sacrifice. Wonderful poem.

Hello there from Polly Motzko in CA, USA.
I am a writer, photographer and marketing consultant in Orange County, CA. I have a blog called Totally Inspired Mind here and a few others as like CookingUpaStorminCa.ning.com.
I spotted yours here under the “freshly pressed” articles.
On my cooking site called “Cooking Up a Storm All Over The World!” there is opportunity for you to share some of your poetry, recipes, etc,and there is a group I created called “Tea For Two”, after a song my Nanny taught me on the piano.
I would love to become friends, fellow writers, fellow bloggers, and I love taking tea, collect tea pots etc..

I love how you contrast the fear of not being apart of conflict to a sacrifice being made. In PR situations, conflict is a disagreement. Conflict occurs whether we like it or not, but having a plan to anticipate possible occurrences is justifiable and most of the time needed.

Love it! Great post, thanks for sharing and congrats on FP!
Good Evening: I like the concealed meter and unpredictable rhymes. “Stirred” and “Heard” rhyme on lines 1 and 5, whilst “wrong” “song” and “long” rhyme on lines 2, 4, and 6. Meanwhile, “save” and “grieve” almost, but don’t quite rhyme, which seems to reinforce the meaning of the poem. Vonn Scott Bair
I don’t know what it is about that poem that makes it special, but it has affected me somehow
This is beautiful. Thank you.
Wow. I love it. Well-written! I can only hope to write poetry like this one day!
It has been many months since I have visited “Freshly Pressed.” The reason, poetry postings are a rare event. Could not believe my eyes this morning. A poetry selection blog was actually chosen. Good work, great reads, an interesting happening. Will it continue or is this an error of sorts by the so called selection committee? If it is few and far between, I will not be returning for many more months. P.S. Congrats to the WordPress Blogger chosen.
Keep up the good work.
I must be dim and uneducated, sounded like a load of gobble d gook to me, sorry.
Yes to a poetry post for being Freshly Pressed (ironically for someone who referenced coffee, you).
This poem reminds me of “Marriage,” a poem I wrote about, you guessed it, marriage and touches on some complexity, but not as well as you do here. You might like reading it and i would love another poet to stop by for some coffee :) if you’d like to read it I’ll post you a link to it.
Will read some more of your lovely poetry now.
Cheers,
Lila
The questions are haunting in their simplicity, and yet their answers are so complex. I always believe that it’s the answers where the conflict lies!
Beautiful post!!!
Great post.
……turn to bitterness through disbelief and distrust……..Let there be peace! Wonderful piece.
This is beautiful.
Read it several times and still thinking about what it means for me. Always the sign of a good poem. Thank you for sharing. -Cheers suebthefoodie
I really like the opening line. It sets the whole tone of the poem and is a great “hook.”
